Japan’s NICT will lead construction of a 600 km quantum-encrypted fibre network linking Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Kobe, with completion targeted for March 2027 and full deployment by 2030. Toshiba, NEC and major carriers are partners, and the network is aimed at finance, diplomacy and healthcare traffic.
