A USTC team published in Nature Photonics a metropolitan multiplexed quantum repeater that achieved heralded entanglement between solid-state quantum memories 14.5 km apart with 78.6% Bell-state fidelity. Its time-multiplexed protocol raised the entanglement distribution rate more than 100-fold over previous metropolitan relays on existing fibre.
