A preprint reports a rare-earth-ion quantum repeater node storing entanglement between a telecom photon and a 979 nm photon for 125 microseconds across 16,340 temporal modes. In a deployment over 5.66 km of Geneva’s metropolitan fibre, the node distributed entanglement while holding 8,235 modes.
