Quantasphere contributes to World Economic Forum report on quantum for energy and utilities

15 April 2026 · Quantasphere

The World Economic Forum, in collaboration with Aramco, has published Quantum for Energy and Utilities: Key Opportunities for Energy Transition. Quantasphere’s co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Uzma Siddiqui, is a listed contributor.

What the report covers

The report gives business leaders in energy and utilities a path from low-risk, high-value pilots to scaled deployment of quantum technology alongside high-performance computing and AI. It surveys quantum solutions across the value chain, from fossil fuels and renewable generation to power and grid infrastructure, and groups the opportunities into three areas: transition and materials acceleration, operational optimisation, and trusted infrastructure and cyber resilience.

The report’s position on timing is direct. Quantum tools will not replace classical computing, but hybrid quantum-classical workflows are already useful for specific hard problems, and post-quantum cybersecurity upgrades are among the earliest opportunities. That last point is where Quantasphere’s work sits: grid and utility control networks carry data and commands whose sensitivity outlasts the encryption protecting them today.
